IS can mean ice maker fan/sensor circuit fault in the official LG refrigerator guidance linked below. The same display may mean something different on another model, so check the full model number and the context in which it appeared.
Model applicability is not confirmed
This is manufacturer guidance for a brand, category, or product family. No exact model and code pairing has been verified in the current database.
Read the display exactly
Recorded display variants in this source group: IS, 1S, 15. Keep capitalization, spaces, and any slash or suffix in your notes. These are documented variants within this group, not proof that every version appears on every model.
Product scope: any. When it appears: Consult the owner manual for the display context and control-panel generation.
Additional caution: LG page visually describes IS or 1S / 15; preserve display ambiguity.
Safe checks before service
- Check only user-accessible ice-bin, water supply, and door-closure conditions.
- Do not reach into powered fans, remove electrical covers, or handle refrigerant lines.
- Schedule service if the ice maker/fan/sensor fault persists.
Do only user-facing checks allowed by your owner manual. Do not bypass locks, open electrical compartments, work on gas lines, or cut into the refrigerant system.
Food safety comes first
If cooling is affected, check actual food temperature with an appliance thermometer and use the FoodSafety.gov guidance.
Read food temperature guidance
When to stop checking
If the code remains after safe external checks, contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician. If a hazard is present, stop use first. Keep the displayed code and context available for support.
